about.

In 2013, I self published my first YA novel THE HANDS. Since then, I've focused on my craft. I took a writing course, attended several conferences and became a member of the SCBWI. My focus is children's literature, specifically picture books. I have three young sons that help me stay current in the PB genre. You can often find me stumbling out of the library with a heaping pile of picture books...for my kids;)
My favorite picture books are:
AFTER THE FALL by Dan Santat
BE QUIET by Ryan T. Higgins
EVERYONE LOVES CUPCAKE by Kelly DiPucchio
ADRIAN SIMCOX DOES NOT HAVE A HORSE by Marcy Campbell
involvement.
I am a member of the SCBWI and just attended The Indiana Festival of Writing and Illustrating conference this summer.
Since moving to Kansas, I have attended a picture book workshop with author Hannah Barnaby and will attend the KSMO Middle of the Map Conference this fall.
I have also attended the Highlights Foundation "Everything You Need to Know About Children's Book Publishing: A Crash Course", and the Midwest Writers Conference.
In 2015, I completed the Fiction Writing course at Gotham Writers Workshop.
I love to research and learn from authors, publishers, and editors that have helpful blogs and sites like these:
